Helping you better connect with Camden Valley Church

This Sunday, June 29, being the 5th Sunday of the month, we will be having Christmas in July and so there will not be a service at Mawarra School hall.

There is still time to get involved with Macarthur Anglican's Homestay program as Moire details below.

There is to be a private funeral for Chris Boardman on Tuesday July 1st.  The service will be live streamed from Camden Uniting Church at 11am through the William Groves Funeral Director website. For more information see their webpage for Chris.

Alice Schroers is leaving on mission soon and is having a farewell brunch this Saturday, July 28 at Narellan Community Congregational Church, starting at 11am. All are welcome. She can also share details of how you can support her.

July Activities

CVC Tearfund Action Group (TAG) invites you to participate in the Plastic Free July Challenge. Individuals and families are encouraged to consider their use of plastic and say no to using single-use plastics in July to have a positive effect on our environment.
To learn more and to register your participation go to the Plastic Free July website (plasticfreejuly.org) or watch this short video.

Remember:   small changes, BIG DIFFERENCE !

FREEBIES

Camden Council is running 2 Plastic-free living workshops. These free, 2hr, workshops are designed to be fun and interactive. The workshops dive into a cleaner, greener lifestyle, identify different types of plastic and their impact on our world and practical ways to swap out unnecessary single use plastics from your home. Let's make a positive change together.

You'll have to hurry for this Saturday's workshop as registrations close on June 27. Registration links are below.
Looking for a friend to go with? Ask a TAG member – Lyn, Louise, Annette, Greig or Heather.

RECYCLING

Did you know that Camden Council subsidise a home collection service for hard to recycle items?  This includes the soft plastics that you cannot avoid. The service is called Recycle Smart. To sign up for the monthly free collection of 2 shopping bags of hard to recycle items, visit recyclesmart.com or download the app today.

Here are several PDF format posters to help you get started:

Homestay Families at Macarthur Anglican

Macarthur Anglican School warmly invites you to join our Homestay Family Community and make a meaningful difference in the life of an international student. By welcoming a student into your home, you’ll be offering so much more than a place to stay—you’ll be providing a sense of belonging, comfort, and support as they embark on their educational journey in Australia.

As a homestay family, you’ll have the unique opportunity to build lifelong friendships and share the joys of Australian family life with a young person from another part of the world. You’ll help shape their experience, introduce them to our culture and traditions, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Along the way, you’ll receive dedicated support from our school staff and the existing Homestay community, ensuring you feel confident and connected throughout the experience. We also provide financial compensation as a token of appreciation for your generosity and hospitality.

Whether you’re able to host for just a few weeks or for a longer period, your kindness will have a lasting impact, helping a student feel truly at home while they study at Macarthur. If you’d like to learn more about this incredibly rewarding opportunity, please reach out to Nadine James at homestay@macarthur.nsw.edu.au.

To see how much of an impact you could make, watch MAS's Homestay video.

Daily Bible Study

Daily Bible Study

The suggested Daily Bible Study for 2025 is from Got Questions.

This is available as an app for Apple and Android phones and also as a website.

Follow the link below to learn more and see some sample questions and answers.

Also, you may have heard several people refer to 'Lectio' over the past few months.

Lectio 365 is a free app (Apple and Android) that is a daily devotional to help you pause in the presence of God.

It is written (and vocalised) by leaders of the 24-7 Prayer movement. Their website is https://www.24-7prayer.com.

With Lectio 365 you pray the Bible by meditating on the scriptures and asking God to speak through them.
