CVC Tearfund Action Group have been working on a project since September 2021. In response to a need identified by a connection with Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, TAG started putting together baskets of kitchen and laundry items. They take 5 baskets a month to Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard who in turn give them to women who are relocating to a new home after escaping from Domestic Violence.
The baskets are just the thing when moving to a new house - providing all that would be needed to clean it and make it your own home. It also helps with the cost of all the basic kitchen and laundry items anyone would need as they establish a new home from scratch.
Recently it became known that the baskets are also being requested by case managers for people who have experienced homelessness and are just being able to move into new accommodation.
So, our 5 baskets a month are not keeping up with the demand for them. Another 5 baskets per month would be closer to meeting demand. So TAG are looking for people to partner with them in this project, so more baskets could be supplied each month.
Perhaps you would be able to contribute some items for the baskets. Below is a list of items that are included in each basket. Perhaps you would have capacity to nominate an item to donate towards the baskets each month.
You could choose one, two or more items and add 3 of them to your grocery cart once a month, then bring it to church on the 4th Sunday each month.
